Women of India Festival 2016 of Organic Products Culminates At Dilli Haat
New Delhi: The 10-day “Women of India Festival 2016” organized by the Ministry of Women & Child Development culminated at Dilli Haat. The theme of the Festival was ‘Women and Organic Products’. Participants from the remotest parts of the country travelled and stayed in Delhi free of cost for the entire duration of the Festival while selling their unique wares. The Women of India Festival 2016 was inaugurated at Dilli Haat, INA by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi.
Over 400 women entrepreneurs from Leh to Kanyakumari and from Kohima to Kutch, came together with their very vast range of organic products, such as organic ice cream, cosmetics, household products, tea, coffee, skin & beauty care, aromatherapy products, solar products, kitchen composters, organic cotton fabric, linen, cereals, rice, pulses, spices, dyes and dresses, pickles, preserves, oils, honey, organic seeds, sikki grass art & crafts, handicrafts made of recycled scrap, ready to eat snacks, water hyacinth craft, cowdung air purifier, jute craft, wild edible forest products, agarbatti, loban and other bio products.
The 10-day Exhibition with more than 220 stalls selling organic produce had people coming in droves on all days thereby giving immense encouragement to the sincere efforts of all participants. The main aim of the Festival was to support and encourage women and women-led groups that promote organic farming, thus supporting their local community’s economy, creating jobs and keeping farmers thriving, in addition to spreading awareness about the benefits of organic products with the motto, “Eat Healthy, Live Healthy”. The Festival had producers and manufacturers of Organic Products from 23 States of India. Apart from rural women who sold organic food produce, participants such as Nourish Organic, The Altitude Store, Dew Drops, Sonal WhiteCub Vegan Ice Creams, Aura Herbal Textiles, ASAL, Pro Nature Organics, Eco Green Unit, Sutra Pure Ayurveda, Avani, were some of the participants who made the Festival a huge success with their vast range.
