oramjiNew Delhi: “Tribal society is an integral part of our country and there can be no stable model of development without their complete participation,” Union Tribal Welfare Minister Jual Oram said on Saturday as he played host to tribal artistes from across the country who had come to Delhi to participate in the Republic Day function.
Welcoming the artistes, the Union Minister said that the Narendra Modi government is committed to make the tribals a part of the development process and his ministry will do everything possible to help the tribals in all their pursuits.
While the practice to host the tribal artists and representatives in Delhi has been there since the first Republic Day, the honourable minister has added a personal touch to the tradition by throwing open the lawns of his residence for the function.
“This is a house allotted in my name as I am the minister, but this house actually belongs to all of you. You are the owners and I am honoured to have all of you at my residence,” JaulOram said.
“The practice of hosting artistes in Delhi must have started to strengthen the process of integration of people from different parts of the country,” the minister told the artistes urging them to play the roles of cultural ambassadors once they returned to their native states.
“You have seen what many others from your state haven’t. I urge you to go back and share your experiences with all,” the Union minister said.
A colourful cultural extravaganza, which started with a powerful display of Ganesh Vandana by artistes from Maharashtra, enthralled the audience that had gathered for the occasion.
MansukhbhaiDhanjibahiVasava, the honourable Minister of State, Tribal Affairs Ministry, also addressed the gathering and thanked the artistes for their wonderful performance.
The evening ended with a sumptuous dinner for all the participants and the guests.
The tribal artistes from across the country who had come to participate in the Republic Day function met President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their week-long stay in the national capital.
