The Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Parkash Singh Badal called on Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), Culture (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation, Dr. Mahesh Sharma in New Delhi today. Various issues about the development of cultural heritage and tourism in the state of Punjab were discussed in the meeting.

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Parkash Singh Badal said that his government is building a War Memorial and museum in Amritsar. He said that Punjab Government is also developing a memorial named Jang-e-Azadi in Kartarpur district which will showcase the freedom struggle movement at large scale. He told Dr Mahesh Sharma that Virasat-e-Khalsa museum on Sikhism at Anandpur Sahib is attracting a large number of visitors every day. Other projects like Bhagwan Valmik Tirath Sthal were also discussed during the meeting.

The Union Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma assured the Chief Minister of Punjab of all support of the government of India to promote the rich pilgrimage and heritage of Punjab. He also said that Amritsar is one of the twelve cities identified under the scheme PRASAD which aims at the promotion and development of pilgrimage sites. The Minister also suggested that a small film can be shown before entering all cultural and heritage places which can throw light upon the history of that particular place. He said the government is making all efforts to promote rich heritage all over the country and will support the Punjab government in their efforts to build museums and other memorials.

Senior officials of the Ministry were also present in the meeting.
