ONGC receives Golden Peacock Award for excellence in CSR

ongccNew Delhi: ONGC added another feather to its cap by bagging the prestigious ‘Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility’ for 2014. ONGC has been declared as the Winner in the Oil & Gas Category.
The Award was presented by The Rt. Hon. Baroness Verma, Minister for Energy & Climate Change, Government of U.K. and Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiative and Rural Development, Aditya Birla Group. The Award was handed over at a specially organized ‘Golden Peacock Awards Nite’ presentation ceremony held recently at Mumbai (India), in the presence of distinguished gathering of business leaders, jurists, academics, environmentalists, economists, legislators and policy makers. The award was received by Mr. Alok Misra, ED-Chief CSR, ONGC.
Corporate Social Responsibility in ONGC is not only commitment towards integration of social, environmental and economic considerations into decision-making structures and processes of business but also enthusing innovation to find creative and value-added solutions to the societal and environmental challenges.
ONGC has always endeavored to put its best foot forward to create and sustain an environment conducive to India’s growth by playing a dominant proactive role in India’s development process and envisaging a harmonious society in which the entire population enjoys a better quality of life.It has a long and cherished tradition of commendable initiatives, institutionalized programs and practices of Corporate Social Responsibility which have played laudable role in the development of several under developed regions of the country. Seeking to herald a business paradigm, it has been engaging shareholders and other stakeholders and collaborating with them to more effectively manage potential risks and build credibility and trust in society at large.
The awards ceremony formed an integral part of the ‘9th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility’. The two-day conference had elaborate presentations and discussion on the insights of the following key CSR indices:
