National School of Drama sets up a Theatre Bazaar at 17th Bharat Rang Mahotsav

rangNew Delhi: National School of Drama has set up a first ever “Theatre Bazaar” at 17th Bharat Rang Mahotsav for the theatre lovers, enthusiasts and audience in general. The Theatre Bazaar is having more than 15 stalls featuring products from different categories such as costumes, lighting & sound instruments for stage work, handicrafts and electrical solutions, book shops all related to theatre.

The Theatre Bazaar has stalls e.g., Costume Designers & Makers (New Delhi), Cocani Handicrafts (Gujarat), V Vishwanath (Andhra Pradesh), Art of Mithila (Bihar), Delhi Light & Music Centre (New Delhi), Batra Electricals, Ram Chander Cane and Bamboo Works (New Delhi), East zone Cultural Centre (Kolkata), IndiMetro Theatre, Growth India, Angoor Publications, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Lalit Kala Akademi, Sahitya Akademi, to name a few.

“The concept of Theatre Bazaar came through “Food Hub” which was earlier organized by National School of Drama during the festival. This time the Food hub was expanded and converted to Theatre Bazaar which is not just restricted to food lovers but will also cater to the needs of theatre enthusiast in getting all the elements for making a production at one place which is economical and at the same time can be easily accessed all at one place.”, said Prof. Waman Kendre, Director, National School of Drama.

Apart from theatre publications and mainstream stalls there are some stalls which are offering virtual support to the theatre enthusiast. One is “theateradda.com” it is an online national portal catering to the needs of theatre lovers and performing artists. The portal is providing all the artists with the facility of creating their profiles so that they can connect well with their audiences about their upcoming plays and can get feedback and can also post for job opportunities.

IndiMetro Theatre is a first of its kind online theatre artist directory, creating a global network for theatre professionals all across India. It has categories for all people such as producers, directors, designers, technicians, carpenters, tailors, etc, and all such professionals which can be contacted when and where the need arises. Another stall, Growth India, it believes in “Train your brain with Aroma”, makes perfumes suitable to various different situations in a play.

The entire idea of Theatre bazaar is initiated towards making it a complete network, connecting everybody all across India to grow and evolve as community together.
