National Fire Service Week kicked off at West Bokaro Division of Tata Steel
West Bokaro: The West Bokaro Division of Tata Steel used the National Fire Service Day to recall the contributions of those Fire Professionals who sacrificed their lives while saving the life and property of others.
In 1944, the Fire Personnel had displayed exemplary courage and devotion to their duty as they fought the huge Fire & Explosion at Victoria Dock, Mumbai. Many Fire Fighters lost their lives in this incident. Respect and homage was paid to all those Fire Fighters who lost their lives on this date seventy three years ago.
To accord value to the Fire Service, Tata Steel is going to observe National Fire Service Week from April 14-20, 2017. A function was organized at Administrative Building of West Bokaro Division today where the week long celebrations was kicked off with the unfurling of flag by Mr Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Manager, West Bokaro Division in the presence of Mr Mohan Mahto, President, RCMS; Mr Sanak Ghosh, Chief, Quarry AB and Mr Tariq Anwar, Assistant Secretary, RCMS.
The flagging off ceremony was followed by Fire vehicle rally across West Bokaro. A beeline of activities has been planned for the week including training to create awareness, Mock Drill exercises, sessions on use of fire extinguishers among employees, Contractors and housewives along with community, Rescue Management and First Aid training, Safety awareness session in schools, etc.
On the occasion, Mr Singh said “Safety is an important issue for everyone. We must realize that there is nothing equivalent to life and we must practice what we preach to be safe and make everyone aware of safe working methods at all levels.”
The event was organized by the Security in association with Fire Department and was coordinated by Mr Manoj Singh, Head, Security and Mr Shreyans Jha, Sr Manager, Security. Among others present on the occassion were senior officials of Tata Steel and RCMS.
