Namvar Singh’s new books released, as he turns 90

Dr.Namvar-Singh-book-launchedNew Delhi: Distinguished Hindi author and critic Dr. Namvar Singh’s three new books were launched by Rajkamal Prakashan Samuh on the eve of his 90th birth anniversary. Many Hindi literary intellectuals and enthusiasts graced the celebration held at the Indian Women’s Press Corps.
The book ‘Ramchandra Shukla Rachnavali’, edited by Namvar Singh and Ashish Tripathi, is a collection of literary work of Ramchandra Shukla. Dr. Namvar Singh gives tribute to his guru with ‘Acharya Hazariprasad Dwiwedi ki jai yatra’, edited by Gyanendra Kumar Santosh. Another book, ‘Namvar ke notes’, one of the first of its kind in Hindi, is a compilation of his lectures, by his students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), where he was a professor for a long time. It is edited by Shailesh Kumar, Madhup Kumar and Neelam Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Namvar Singh said that he had never imagined he would live so long. The book on his guru Hazariprasad Dwiwedi was his long cherished dream. “I can now die peacefully,” he added.
Ashok Maheshwari, M.D, Rajkamal Prakashan Samuh said that it was probably for the first time that more than one books of so much significance were being launched together.
The celebration became enlivened as noted personalities from Hindi literature, writer Vishwanath Tripathi, critic Manager Pandey, and poet Savita Singh, expressed their views on the tradition of criticism in Hindi literature.
Also present on the occasion were prominent critic Nirmala Jain, writer Kashinath Singh, Om Thanvi, writer Geetanjali Shree, Abdul Bismillah, and artist Prabhu Joshi.
