Education to build Personality says Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Third Convocation at Sri Sri University
Bhubaneswar: On 18th Nov 2016, Third Convocation held at Sri Sri University. H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji presided over the function. His Excellency Governor of Odisha, Dr S.C.Jamir was the chief guest of the event. Around 150 students of MBA, MA in Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, MA in Good Governance and Public Policy and Post doctorate students from 28 states of India will be receiving their degrees from the guests of honor along with some dignitaries.
Addressing the Convocation, Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji, life time President of Sri Sri University who presided the function told, the varsity is a blend of best of East and West. It is a child now who has just started walking. The purpose of Education is to build the personality. He also inspires the graduating batch by saying that, ‘Tougher the boss, better skills come up’. The world renowned humanitarian, spiritual leader and the founder of the Art of Living organization, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Ji has paid a visit to the Campus from 15th to 19th Nov.
The outstanding students with highest CGPA, were awarded gold medals. Anupriya Gupta from Department of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Sharan Shiv Kumar from MBA, Vishal Deewan from MA in Good Governance and Public Policy are being awarded Gold medals for their overall excellent performance in academics. Apart from that Ankita Mahobia, Harshita S.K, Sarvani Gaddipati, Rachna Shroff, Anmol Narang are also awarded Gold Medals from various specializations of MBA.
Mr Bijay Kumar Kandel is being awarded Ph.D in Management.
Addressing the Convocation, Chief Guest His Excellency Governor of Odisha Dr S.C.Jamir told, ‘it is important to nurture a spirit of innovation in young minds and encourage them to research activity and to aspire of becoming an innovator to tackle challenges of local, national and global. It is said ‘Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. So, Research must occupy center-stage in the intellectually stimulating environment of our universities. In fact Research and teaching are inseparable.’
Vice Chancellor Dr Nand Lal read out the annual report. Excellent placement opportunities were created for all the graduating students. Almost all the students who sought placement were placed in reputed organizations.
President of Sri Sri University Dr A.L.Rao, Executive Registrar Dr Srinivas SubbaRao, Board Members Mrs Rajita Kulkarni, Mr Nikhil Sen, Mr Ajay Bagga etc were present.
Mrs Kukarni has enthused the students with her short speech narrating the success story of four years.
Saurabh Baweja, graduating batch of MA (Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences) has told that, ‘it was a wonderful experience to learn, lead and serve in the campus. I am able to utilize the practical wisdom acquired for the benefit of the under-privileged.’
A parent, Mr P.K.V.V Sastry liked the way the convocation was conducted. He opined that the inspiring leadership of Sri Sri will guide students in the path of development and will create a divine society gradually.
Around 1000 students from the college along with 200 teaching and non-teaching faculty were present in the grand event at the University. 1500 The Art of Living teachers from North Eastern and Eastern India who have assembled for a special meet have also witnessed the same. There were guests from Government, District administration and academia who appreciated the way it was conducted.
