Establishing as a versatile filmmaker with the success of his last ventures 'Jab We Met' and 'Love Aaj Kal', Imitaz Ali is back with a musical romance. Starring B-town heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and fresh face Nargis Fakhri, 'Rockstar' traces the life of a musician Janardhan Jakhar aka Jordan, played by Ranbir.

Ranbir Kapoor's role as the reluctant but ruthless politician in hit political thriller Raajneeti earned him a lot of praise, but his Anjaana Anjaani failed to garner the same response. Now the young actor is hoping to make a mark with Rockstar, releasing Friday, where his character goes through various shades.

The movie is turning out to be a sensation for its concept and fabulous music which is composed by music legend A R Rehman.Rockstar will introduce two new faces to the Indian film industry -- Pakistani-American model Nargis will be seen for the first time as Ranbir's love interest and it will also launch Brazil based Moufid Aziz, born to parents of Portuguese and Arabic origin.

Imtiaz Ali has been able to extract mind blowing performance from all actors, especially Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir has proved once again that he is an awesome actor. Ranbir has been able to pull off the role with aplomb. He will be remembered always for his extraordinary performance in Rockstar. Nargis Fakhri looks mind blowing. She acts well too. However, Nargis is unable to pull off a few very emotional scenes. The on screen chemistry between Nargis Fakhri and Ranbir Kapoor is electrifying. Rockstar is Shammi Kapoor's last film and the actor is simply outstanding in his small, yet important role. The other actors have given an average performance.

However, the second half gets a little monotonous and the narration becomes a little weak. Another drawback in Rockstar is the 'realism' part. Many sequences in the film are hard to believe and one cannot help but opine that Imtiaz could have dealt with it more realistically. The scene between Ranbir and Shammi Kapoor is very nice to watch, apart from many other light moments
Bannered under Eros International Media Ltd and Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd, 'Rockstar' is produced by Dhillin Mehta.

The Story
Janardan, born and brought up in the very middle class locality of Pitampura in Delhi, has a larger than life dream - of being a rockstar like Jim Morrison! But all he gets from his reluctant audience is ridicule and humiliation.

He's at his wit's end, when he realises that all musical stars, all artists in fact, have one thing in common. And that is tragedy. They all have tragic lives. They have all suffered painful heartbreaks to become what they are. Alas, there is no pain in Janardan's life - it is an oasis of peace. Unless he does something drastic, he will never become a rockstar.

Heer Kaul is the undisputed diva of the college campus - beautiful, talented, arrogant, rich, unavailable. She has broken many hearts. Janardan hopes she will break his heart too. He sets out to woo Heer with the sole object of getting his heart broken.

'Rockstar' is the journey of a boy - who leaves behind Janardan to become Jordan; who traverses the highs and lows of life - from simple naivete to tortured soul, from the pleasure of unaffected friendship to the torment of unrequited love, from the campus in Delhi to the international stage...

He ultimately gets all that his heart has ever desired...but in the process shatters / loses his heart forever...
