Report by Ananta Prasad and Sarat Mama; Chandanpur: Panchayati Raj Minister & Former Speaker Maheswar Mohanty is being attacked by one miscreant this evening. Mohanty was with his supporters at the Pankal Village of Chandanpur area for the upcoming Panchayat Polls. The area is in the Brahmagiri Constituency. Sources have said that the miscreant attacked Mr Mohanty with a sharp weapon and Hon. Minister is critically injured.

People have caught the miscreant along with the weapon. Mohanty's head and leg affected severely in this attack.
Maheswar Mohanty, 4 times MLA from Puri and he got placed in CM’s crew last year as Panchayati Raj Minister. He was also the Speaker of Odisha Assembly for few months. He is believed to be unbeatable among the Sadar areas of Puri District.

Police is deeply looking into the matter. Mr Mohanty has been sent to Puri hospital immediately. But later he sent to the Kalinga Hospital in Bhuabneswar.
