BANGALORE: M Shameem, 38, had a miraculous escape when she accidentally fell from the Richmond Circle flyover on Friday morning. She claimed she was walking above Lalbagh Main road and felt dizzy and fell. She suffered multiple fractures and underwent surgery.

The 38-year-old was a teacher at a private school and had to quit some months ago.

In a police statement, Shameem, a resident of Anthony LaCosta street in Ashoknagar, said she was walking to a cellphone shop on KH Road. "I wanted to recharge my cellphone. On reaching the top, I felt uneasy and suffered from giddiness . I reached the flyover parapet and tried to lean on it. I don't know how I fell down," she said. She was weak as she hadn't eaten anything through the day as she was observing roza (fasting). Shameem was rushed to Republic Hospital and then to Hosmat.

Of late, she'd been worried as she had resigned from her job two months ago. "I was teaching English in a private high school. Recently , the management asked me to teach Science," she said. Shameem didn't like teaching Science and decided to quit. "I was dejected sitting at home and that was frustrating. I don't have any problems and my husband looks after me well," said Shameem, who has two daughters.
