New Delhi: Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne, Chief of the Air Staff visited the NCC Republic Day Camp, Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt today. On his arrival, he was presented with an impressive Guard of Honour by a contingent of smartly turned out NCC cadets drawn from all three wings i.e., the Army, Navy and Air Force, followed by a brilliant Band Display by cadets from the North East Region. This was followed by the Air Chief’s visit to the Flag Area and Motivation Hall where briefing by the Cadets on various states was arranged as well as display of various social themes, charts and models prepared by the Cadets, followed by a cultural programme on Indian Culture National Integration.

While addressing the NCC Cadets he recalled his brief association with the NCC way back in 1968. The Air Chief said, “Though the NCC has continued to grow, you, ladies and gentlemen over here are extremely fortunate to be here to represent your State, your Schools and Colleges. The aim of NCC is Unity and Discipline. Here is the place you form tremendous friendships, associations and I am quite sure you extend this even when you join the Armed Forces, which many of you I am sure will.”

“ As far as Indian Air Force is concerned, we look forward to your participation in growth of the Air Force. What we are seeking is people who have passion for life, who actually have that attribute that ‘Yes, you can do it’, and we look for disciplined people with a strong character and a sense of responsibility. The Air Force will welcome you with open arms, you have to work very hard, you have to be a professional...We are like a large family with good value systems and I can assure you that we take care of our people like nobody else can. So if you are looking for a life of adventure, a professional career, the thrill of aviation and what you can contribute to the country at large as a group, then this is the service I recommend you to join. We do hope that we get to meet many of you this evening at our house. It is a privilege for us to host you.”

He commended the excellent work being done by the NCC in grooming the future leaders of our country and also pointed out the crucial role played by the NCC in developmental and social service schemes, disaster relief, awareness programme, and adventure and sports activities.

2000 Cadets, both boys and girls drawn from 17 NCC Directorates covering all the States and Union Territories of the Country and officers and cadets from friendly foreign countries such as Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Vietnam are participating in this RD Camp. The cadets will take part in a number of activities like Cultural, National Integration Awareness and Institutional Training competitions during the month long Republic Day Camp.

The evening saw a reception being hosted for the NCC cadets by the Air Chief and Mrs Kiran Browne, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association(AFWWA) at the Air House.
