LUCKNOW: The flood situation remained grim in most of north India with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar being the worst affected. More than a hundred people have died since the start of the monsoon and thousands of people rendered homeless. Standing crop has been damaged in several districts and livestock of many villages has got swept away.

Since the time the anti corruption crusader hogged limelight, the city's business sector only seems to fly high, said a India report.

Lucknow, Aug 21: Actress Jayaprada has experienced a terrific day when she was being stranded while visiting flood hit Uttar Pradesh on Friday, Aug 19. A tree also had fallen on her car and her whole convoy was stuck at Moradabad on the same day.

The actress later stated, "Since I have come, I have been trying to come out, but have been unable due to flood waters. We have not been able to move forward due to the accumulated water. It's been three to four hours. A tree too fell on our car but we got saved."

Farrukhabad, Aug 21: Anti-corruption crusader, Anna Hazare's supporters were thrashed by the police in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The cops who beat the supporters were a part of Salman Khursheed's security cover.

The protestors were beaten up after they blocked the ministers procession waving black flags. The adamant protestors lay down before his car refusing to let his car move, attracting the wrath of the police deployed for Khursheed's security.

The incident took place when Khursheed was on his way to a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency.
