Andhra Pradesh CM, PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, others laid the Foundation Stone of IIPE, Visakhapatnam

dpji3Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara ChandraBabu Naidu alongwith Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan in the distinguished presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Information & Broadcasting, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu; Hon’ble Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati; Hon’ble Minister of State for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Shri Y. S. Chowdary and other dignitaries laid the Foundation Stone of Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam, Dedicated to the Nation the Skill Development Institute (SDI), Visakhapatnam and launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana in the state of Andhra Pradesh on 20 October, 2016.

As a symbolic launch of PMUY in the State of Andhra Pradesh, 05 women from BPL families were handed over LPG connections by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara ChandraBabu Naidu and Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan in the distinguished presence of present dignitaries and guests.
Hon’ble Members of Parliament and State Legislative Assembly, Secretary-P&NG, GOI; Senior Officials from MoP&NG, State Government Officials, Senior Officials from Oil Industry, were present during the occasion.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan in his address on the occasion gave details of various investments proposed in the AP state. He said that for IIPE, 600 crores are being invested and the project will be completed at the site in 4 years.
The Skill development centre has been started to equip youth for getting job after the course. He said that Vaisakh refinery expansion plan to the tune of Rs. 21000 crores is underway and a Petrochemical complex with HPCL is proposed in the state with an investment of Rs. 35000 crores which will have further private and government investment opportunities to the tune of Rs. 60000 crores. He said that AP will be an energy hub as lot of projects are planned and are underway like development of KG basin with investment of Rs. 60000 crores, covering state with Gas Grid, AP to be first major state free of SKO by 2017.
He also said that all eligible households in AP will be covered under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a step in making the nation smokeless.

Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Nara ChandraBabu Naidu said that the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is an excellent scheme fulfilling the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister to provide clean fuel to the BPL families and is a boon to women to experience cooking without smoke. He thanked Hon’ble Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi for his vision and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan for implementing PMUY for women empowerment and providing them better life through clean fuel.

IIPE The Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy (IIPE) is being set up, under the guidance of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, by PSU Oil Companies i.e. GAIL, HPCL, IOCL, OIL, ONGC with the support of Andhra Pradesh Government and Oil Industry Development Board. IIT Kharagpur is the Mentoring Institute for IIPE.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has allotted 200 acres of land at Vangali Village in Visakhapatnam District for setting up permanent campus of IIPE.

SDI : In line with the National Skill Development Mission of the Govt. of India, Oil PSUs under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas are setting up Skill Development Institutes (SDI) to provide skill development courses aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework. SDI Visakhapatnam is being set up to cater primarily to the people of Andhra Pradesh. Director- HR of all Oil PSUs (viz. HPCL, IOCL, ONGC, BPCL, GAIL, OIL, EIL and Balmer Lawrie) are the Members of SDI Visakhapatnam Society.
PMUY : In a major initiative to provide clean fuel and better environment to women & children of below poverty line, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 1st May 2016.
Within a short period of over 5 months since its launch, more than 86 lakhs LPG connections across India have been distributed to women of BPL families under the PMUY scheme.
